Music is really hecking cool. The following is my review of like a bajillion different albums that I really like! (If you want to search for a specific album, use ctrl+f an type out the title or artist name)

    Weezer (1994) by Weezer

    Written: 6/29/25

    Rating: 9/10

weezer.jpgIn their debut album, Weezer shows their talent greatly. This album front to back is genuinely perfect, and there aren't many albums I could say that for. This album was so good, that the popularity of it led some people to believe the band was a industry plant. While the later discography of Weezer is debatable in it's quality (e.g. Raditude, Hurley, etc.), this album is definitive 90s rock. The highlight tracks are "Undone - The Sweater Song", "Say It Ain't So", and "Holiday". Overall, this is one of my favorite albums of all time.

    Pinkerton (1996) by Weezer

    Written: 6/29/25

    Rating: 9/10

pinkerton.jpgFollowing their surfer rock style debut in 1994, Weezer would release "Pinkerton". The album named after and having recurring elements of the play "Madama Butterfly". Originially, Weezer was going to release an album titled "Songs From the Black Hole", with the only song surviving onto "Pinkerton" being the intro song, "Tired of Sex". However, after a bout of mental struggle, Rivers Cuomo decided to scrap the idea and write of his inner demons and the struggles of not wanting the rockstar life. Rivers would say that around 80% of the album was based off of true experiences. The standout tracks of the album are "No Other One", "Why Bother?", and "Butterfly". One track though is infamous for it's weirdness, the halfway point of the album "Across the Sea". This song is about a pen pal Rivers had, a young Japanese girl. Several of the lyrics are claimed to be from the real letters they sent each other. It is a... weird song... But, still, despite that, this album is definitely one of my favorites, with many claiming it to be the last truly good Weezer album.

    Surfer Rosa (1988) by Pixies

    Written: 6/29/25

    Rating: 9/10

surferrosa.jpgPixies is your bands favorite band. Nirvana, Radiohead, The Strokes, Alice In Chains, Pavement, and many more have all claimed an admiration for and an inspiration by Pixies. Notably too, Weezer claimed heavy influence from Pixies, with many of their demos and non-album songs sounding almost directly like Pixies rip-offs. This album, their second, is one of the best rock albums and one of the best albums of the 1980s. It's hard to pick 3 stand out tracks, but if I had to it would be "Gigantic", "Where Is My Mind?", and "Vamos". I can say there is a closing slump, as the last few tracks do waiver off into being forgettable. But the first 3/4th of the album is amazing. A special highlight needs to be given to their bassist Kim Deal, who is one of the greatest female rockers of all time, and would later on form her own band The Breeders. If I had to choose my favorite band of all time, it would be Pixies.

    Doolittle (1989) by Pixies

    Written: 7/1/25

    Rating: 10/10

doolittle.jpgWhat do you do after making "Surfer Rosa"? You make an even better album. This album is phenominal, with really no major flaws in the tracklist. I would be doing a disservice to this album if I only chose 3 songs to highlight, because every song is a highlight. But, per my rules, I have to pick 3 songs to highlight. The 3 highlight songs of this album are, "Here Comes Your Man", "La La Love You", and "Hey". Now, that was a very difficult choice to make there, because I had to sit for a while to actually pick them. Unlike "Surfer Rosa", where I can admit there are some faulty tracks, I truly can not say any song from this album is bad. Genuinely! This album holds a very special place in my heart, and I want that place to be in everyone else's too.

From Under the Cork Tree (2005) by Fall Out Boy

    Written: 9/20/25

    Rating: 8/10

fromunderthecorktree.jpgSo, I haven't listened to a ton of emo music. I may love and appreciate emo culture quite a lot, but I genuinely haven't gotten super into it besides Paramore (Which I will likely do reviews for next). Recently I've decided to make an effort and actually listen to emo music, and I decided to start with "From Under the Cork Tree". That was a really good choice. This album is truly well written both lyrically and instrumentally. I keep catching myself singing some of the songs, specifically "Sugar We're Going Down", "Dance,Dance", and "7 Minutes In Heaven (Avan Halen)". I am definitely planning on listening to the rest of Fall Out Boy's discography and more 2000s emo bands.

Various Emo Artists (1995-2025) by Cap'n Jazz, Jawbreaker, Jets to Brazil, and First Day Back

    Written: 11/23/25

    Rating: 9/10

variousartists1.jpgToday is a special maybe recurring music review where I review 4 albums that I don't really have a ton to say about. For this post, the albums I am reviewing are "Forward" by First Day Back, "Orange Rhyming Dictionary" by Jets To Brazil, "Shmapn'n Shmazz" by Cap'n Jazz, and "Dear You" by Jawbreaker. These are four very good and very emo albums. (P.S., I want to make a quick amendment to my previous review for "From Under the Cork Tree", I now realize it's not really emo, but only just popular among emo culture in the 2000s, sry). Starting off chronologically with "Shmapn'n Shmazz" by Cap'n Jazzm released 1995. This is some very good early midwest emo, and there's really only one song on here that I'm not too big on. Overall, it's just a really good collection of albums and I reccomend to everyone, stand out songs are "Little League" and "Flashpoint: Catheter". Next is "Dear You" by Jawbreaker, released the same year. This is also really good and also in my opinion perfect front to back, stand out songs are "Oyster" and "Save Your Generation". Fronted by Jawbreaker's lead singer, is now Jets to Brazil with their album "Orange Rhyming Dictionary". This album is also very good and very emotional, with standout songs being "Sea Anemone" and "Sweet Avenue". Then finally is a very new ablum, with "Forward" by First Day Back. For now this is their only album, but I will for sure be looking out for future releases, with standout songs on the ablum being "Us" and "Twelve Mile Tracks". Anyways, I'm sure I'll have a full album review soon, but for now here is some albums to just feast on in the meantime. Bye bye luvs.
